On November 3, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the latter’s request.

The ministers exchanged opinions on the situation in the Horn of Africa. Both sides expressed support for continuing the coordinated steps of the international community to provide comprehensive assistance to the Federal Government of Somalia as part of efforts to promote a lasting settlement in that country.

Other regional matters and the prospects for further improving the friendly ties between Russia and the United Arab Emirates were also discussed.
