8th session of the Russian-Emirati Joint Commission took place in Kazan
On July 6 the 8th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Russian-Emirati Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation took place in Kazan. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Denis Manturov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, and Abdullah Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the participation of the representatives of Russian federal authorities, UAE government entities as well as two countries' companies.
Two parties discussed cooperation in different spheres including industry, energy, digital technologies and telecommunications, as well as in the fields of cybersecurity systems creation and artificial intelligence development. Moreover, the collaboration in the space field was praised, first of all in the context of the Russian-Emirati project that includes training of the first UAE cosmonaut and launching him to the International Space Station.
Two sides agreed to activate cooperation between Russia and the UAE in aviation, car-building and oil-and-gas industries and discussed the possibility to develop investment collaboration on joint projects in the third countries.
Upon the conclusion of the session, Denis Manturov and Abdullah Al Nahyan signed the final declaration. Moreover, the intergovernmental agreement on mutual waiver of the visa requirements was signed by Alexander Efimov, Russian Ambassador to the UAE, and Maadhad Hareb Mughair Al Khaili, UAE Ambassador to Russia.
Agreement on the cooperation in car-building industry between Emirati "Tawazun Holding" and Russian NAMI Research Institute, "Aurus" and "Sollers" companies as well as memorandum of understanding between Gatchina Gardens smart city in Russia and Masdar City were also signed.
